Ivan’s Femur

Ha! Tricked you with the title! OK, had to throw some comic relief in here. Ivan lost a leg, and I found one for him. 🙂

The leg bone’s connected to the…jaw bone!

    1. Thank you. He’s about the same, if you don’t count the fireworks. If panting were a part of getting dressed, he’d have slacks and jeans and dress pants and every other and of pants you can think of layered on. His belly is oddly round tonight, like he’s had a good meal [which he has] but before it didn’t show like this. I mean, his spine is still bony and so are ribs, but his belly looks like a Thanksgiving meal is in there. He poo’d earlier and it’s not tender, I mean he doesn’t squeal or act like it hurts.

  1. I don’t know. I always thought that bloat is obvious…that they try to throw up and you can tell they’re in pain. I’ll look it up.

  2. I’m not a qualified professional but I will tell you that when my mastiff was first putting on weight he looked like an ethiopian. He was rail thin, like your boy, but his tummy was huge after meals.
Bloat is different, not squishy. You will also see vomiting, unable to pass fluids or solids, and breathing difficulties.
A great food for weight gain and dense nurtients kibble made by Evo, and their wet food. I would mix it into your current kibble, because it is low carb and your boy needs lots of carbs right now, I would use both. Evo is high in protein, he also needs that.
Are you also supplimenting with vitamins?

  3. ivan looks like a man on a mission. elizabeth has some great thoughts on food – we’d add maybe considering some honest kitchen food. it comes dehydrated, you mix it up with warm water…it’s natural, and very delicious (our crew has all just loved the ‘thrive’ variety)…

patience is such a difficult thing to remember during this recovery time. a jug fills drop by drop.
